Operational reliability, efficiency and safety are recognised as key objectives across the oil and gas industry. Oil & Gas Agenda speaks to PRETECT's director of business development, Yasser Hussein, about how companies in the Middle East are benefitting from the company's service delivery model and track record in asset integrity management to achieve these goals.
Can you explain the thinking behind the company name?
Yasser Hussein: We settled on the name PRETECT as it captures our philosophy by combining the terms 'prevent' and 'protect', the two key benefits we bring to an organisation. In delivering our services, our aim is provide the foresight that allows an organisation to pre-empt problems and make informed decisions, thereby preventing risk and protecting its operations and assets.
Is it true to say that PRETECT is a relative newcomer to the Middle East energy market?
Although the PRETECT brand was launched as recently as 2013, we have actually been operating in the Middle East for more than ten years, establishing a strong regional presence and earning an unparalleled reputation for delivering services and solutions to the highest standards of quality and safety. We are currently operational in Qatar, Oman, the UAE, Bahrain and Iraq, and are proud to include industry leaders such as Oxy, RasGas, BP and Shell among our many esteemed clients.
Could you talk us through your services and delivery model?
At Pretect, we are able to offer a one-stop shop for the full range of support services and solutions necessary for an organisation to achieve maximum system reliability, efficiency and safety. Our portfolio covers conventional and advanced NDT and inspection techniques, pipeline intervention, controlled bolting operations, asset integrity management, on-site machining, specialist cleaning and rope access solutions.
Our service delivery model is focused on high-quality services and customised solutions tailored to customer requirements. By holding one of the largest inventories of state-of-the-art tools and equipment in the Middle East, and retaining a considerable permanent workforce of accredited experienced technicians, we have the flexibility to respond quickly at all times, whatever the situation requires. Our preference is to develop long-term working relationships with our clients, becoming their reliable and dependable partner of choice.
So that is how PRETECT differentiates itself from its competitors?
Yes, exactly. We consider ourselves unique in our ability to deliver end-to-end services and solutions with pride and professionalism, to the highest standards of quality, health and safety, and environmental awareness.
How does PRETECT see the market developing?
We often hear from the market place, of operators striving to avoid unanticipated downtime and loss of productivity due to leaks and other system failures. We therefore see strong potential in the concept of holistic asset integrity management, through a combination of non-destructive test and inspection schedules, controlled bolting and mechanical operations, and planned maintenance programmes, all with increased emphasis on data capture, real-time availability and ongoing analysis. PRETECT is currently working with a number of customers to develop appropriate methodologies for the introduction of asset integrity management solutions, which we feel certain will become the basis of future network management strategies.
What are PRETECT's immediate plans?
We aim to further consolidate our position throughout the Middle East and to grow our business in the UAE in particular, where we see significant opportunities. With this in mind, PRETECT, in conjunction with our regional partner SPX Bolting Systems, hosted the inaugural Flange Integrity Management seminar in Abu Dhabi on 20 May 2015, to an invited audience of contractors and OPCO's from across UAE. At this event, we were able to showcase our services portfolio, including a demonstration of how our services combined with the use of SPX FlangePro Integrity Management software is delivering significant benefits in maintaining the integrity of safety critical assets.
