Ampelmann Operations B.V. is a high-tech company focusing on the development, construction and operation of a rental fleet of offshore access solutions. The core technology is the Ampelmann system, a motion compensating platform that allows safe, easy, and fast access from a moving vessel to offshore structures, even in high waves.
Ampelmann's rapidly expanding fleet of systems are operational all over the world and is becoming recognized as the way forward in creating safer and more productive offshore operations. Our HSE record showing zero "Lost Time Injuries" illustrates that offshore access is now really as easy as crossing the street.
The Ampelmann is a ship-based self-stabilizing platform that actively compensates all vessel motions. The base of the Ampelmann takes care of the motion compensation, keeping the top side of the Ampelmann stationary and thus creating a stable transfer deck.
The transfer deck then forms the basis for an integrated telescoping gangway or crane in order to provide access to offshore structures, without any prior modifications to the landing object. This makes the Ampelmann an extremely flexible and universal tool for offshore crew transfer and the transfer of cargo or equipment.
As an offshore company Ampelmann focusses on the global Oil & Gas and Offshore Wind markets. Within these markets one of Ampelmann's main purposes is adding value to its customers operations. The Ampelmann system has already shown its value in both the installation and O&M area. Several companies have used the Ampelmann offshore transfer system with success. For instance: Total, Jumbo, Wintershall, Shell, Siemens, Origin Energy, Saipem, and BP.
Ampelmann Operations is a high-tech offshore company focusing on development, construction and lease of offshore access solutions. The company was founded in 2008 as a spin-off of the Delft University of Technology. The core technology is the Ampelmann system, a motion compensation platform that allows easy, fast and safe access from a moving vessel to offshore structures, even in high wave conditions. With a doubling of the fleet every year since 2008, Ampelmann currently operates 20 systems world-wide transferring offshore crew from various types of vessels to offshore oil & gas platforms, offshore turbines, FPSO's and all other fixed and floating structures at sea.
Ampelmann continues to build its fleet of standard systems adding innovations in application: ship-to-ship functionality, cargo transfer, hose support, re-fueling operations, continuous transfer and many more. All adding up to meet our vision: Offshore access as easy as crossing the street.
Ampelmann's base model is the A-type. The platform has 2m stroke cylinders and gangways of 20 and 25m maximum reach. The newly developed (2012) workhorse is the E-type. With 3m stroke cylinders the system can carry up to 100 tons of payload. It can be fitted with standard A-type gangways and client-specific gangway and crane types reaching to maximum 65m.
